Music has played a big role is both the Underground Railroad and today's Black Lives Matter. Slaves used music to escape from their owners and in today's world blacks use music to escape the things they hear and see. Back then they had music like "Wade in the Water" and "Follow the Drinkin" Gourd" within those lyrics you can hear the directions to the underground railroad. In today's music within the lyrics you can listen to the artist sing about how it is okay to be of color. We now have songs like "Born this Way" from Lady Gaga and "Freedom" by Beyonce. Artists now speak about real live situations like the Michael Brown shooting, artists would try to bring more light to it.
